Origami LAFF

This Origami Group meets monthly in Tucson, AZ usually on the third Saturday each month, from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Meetings are free and open to the public. Members share ideas, teach each other, and generally have fun with paper folding! (Sometimes the date is changed due to the library's schedule, so please check with us if you're not on the local mailing list.)

July 2010 Origami LAFF meeting:

We had another wonderful meeting, starting out with traditional swans for new-comers, and then some models using recycled paper from Netflix covers. Pete showed us a pigeon by K. Kasahara; since it was a hit he gave us his book with the diagrams so we could all fold it. Then he graciously taught us all the "Sonobe Cube" with paper he had prepared. This was also a very popular model, and I'm sorry we didn't get photos of everyone making them and all the different color combos. We continued with some other fun models, the hopping cricket, the jumping frog and a hat and dress.

June 2010 Origami LAFF meeting:

We started out folding traditional lily pad blossoms using paper napkins, which work well becuase they don't tear like regular paper. Then we had fun folding water melons and butterflies to celebrate summertime, then Paolo Bascetta's box divider which fits the traditional masu box. When Anna arrived she taught us a wonderful Saguaro Cactus, and a challenging but delightful 3-dimensional mouse!

May 2010 Origami LAFF meeting:

Another great meeting! Joey taught us a modular lotus flower that we all had fun with. Then we folded a simple Hopping Cricket designed by Kunihiko Kasahara. We also taught the traditional Crane and Flapping Bird, since many of our members are relatively new to origami, and these are favorite models. We also had fun with a Barking Dog in two parts; each one took on its own personality!
